Synaesthesia by Kitchen Theory was London’s first immersive fine dining experiences to popularise the science of how our senses and brains work to alter our perceptions of flavour, taste and experiences of the world around us. Working with psychologists from Oxford University as well as the American Synaesthetic Association and neurologists, the immersive fine dining experience bridged the gap between science and pop culture.
We worked as a brand lead and oversaw the full-scope brand and PR management and event hosting to create London's most highly sought after immersive pop-up dining experience with consistent sellout dates and waiting lists. The mesmerising experimental dining events were elevated combining aromatic clouds with the use of dry ice to deliver aromas to enhance flavour as well as visual stimulation, surround sounds were paired with each course or delivered through the use of wireless headphones for a more intense experience where necessary and projection mapping and colour changing uplighting to create ambience and to convey the concept of each course. Each element of the dining experience was considered with textures, cutlery and crockery all carefully considered to suit the artistic and immersive direction as well as to support and gently educate diners on the science of the senses.
Using industry contacts and relentless efforts in outreach and press release spinning resulted in the events being featured on all major events listings websites and covered by The New Yorker, The Guardian, Timeout London, Evening Standard and Financial Times to name a few.
